Lady Liberty

Last weekend Grandpappy Doug came to visit. He scored a fabulous 2-bedroom apartment, where he was good enough to host us and give Clara a full dose of fun and attention. When we weren't marvelling at Clara's newfound voice and heightened attention span, we were taking in the fantastic view of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and uh, Jersey City. When not revelling in picturesque air-conditioned glory, we took to the streets, especially those in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, where we watched Italy defeat France in the World Cup. Carroll Gardens is a predominately Italian neighborhood, so you can imagine the pandemonium that ensued. We were sad to see Pappy go on Monday, but we only have three weeks left in NYC until we return home to Seattle. How time flies...
