Clara Turns Two!
Clara turned two last Saturday, so we celebrated in the most festive but only-moderately-stimulating style we could muster. Clara's Mema and Papa Bamford came over to help us celebrate. We only finished opening presents today. We hired no clowns, invited no other little ones to join us, had a relatively quiet dinner of pizza and salad at Tutta Bella, and I made a pumpkin cake frosted with Yummy Yam frosting from the "Feeding the Whole Family" cookbook, and STILL, Clara was running laps around the house until 9:30 when I finally wrestled her and put her to bed. She never even ate a piece of her birthday cake because after she extinguished her candles (yes, she really blew them out!), she pounded her glass of milk, asked to go play, then ran around the dining room singing made up songs (which sounded like "la la la cake la la la"). She did have a piece of cake the next day after we took her up to Lake Easton for a quiet day of skiing in what, I hope!, will be the last snow of the winter. The previous day's festivities apparently took their toll because as much as she LOVES the snow, she loved napping in her Chariot even more.
