Double Dose of Summer
We just returned from our vacation in Bend, OR only to find ourselves enjoying the summer living here at home in Seattle. Our Gravenstein apple tree is especially prodigious this year, so we are enjoying apples with everything. I should be able to sock away enough applesauce in our deep freezer to last through the winter. Clara has even figured out how to climb up onto the dining room table and help herself--two at a time--from the apples in the fruit bowl.
Other highlights this summer in south Seattle include: walking to the beach for a quick swim at Seward Park, sidewalk sales in Ballard (Clara and Greg got "back to school" shoes), the Blue Angels flying over our house (fun to watch, but quite a nuisance if you're a 16-month old trying to sleep while the window panes are rattling), toddler class at Lotus Yoga, and all manner of berry picking. Still to come: visit from the Armitage grandparents, Greg's cousin's wedding, and the neighborhood block party. It makes one wonder: why did we ever go to New York last summer? Oh yes, so Greg could have yet another framed diploma on the "wall of knowledge" in our office.
