Happy Mother's Day!

Just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and moms-to-be out there. Motherhood is the best job one can have, despite the crap pay and hours, but oh, the benefits!

Clara Entertains

We had lots of visitors this past weekend. Clara met her first international visitors on Friday when we met Lin and Lorna from England at the bakery. We bumped into Josie and Simon who will be house sitting for us this summer while we're in NYC, so they graciously took our photos. Josie attends Orca School, where Simon will start kindergarten next fall. Currently, he goes to Magic Lantern Montessori at the church across the street from our house.

Former Clevelanders Mark and Amanda came up from Portland for the Indians-Mariners game, which was Clara's first baseball game. We were rooting for the Tribe, so the Mariners won, natch. We had fun, nonetheless, and Clara had on her best "game face."

Grandma Kathy's birthday...

was yesterday. We spent a fabulous weekend at house Doug and Kathy rented for the occasion on the Kitsap Peninsula overlooking the Sound. Clara got to enjoy her first ferry ride with views of the snow-capped mountains, including Rainier in all its glory. The weekend was a double-birthday of sorts, as Clara turned one month-old on Saturday.
