Clara gets some cultcha

We're in NYC and you'll be glad to know, Doreen, no muggings yet! Mostly we've been making trips to Kmart, Zabar's, and the Uptown Fairway to get our apt. set up. When we're not doing the usual householding, we do like to make good use of our all-you-can-ride Metrocard and explore the city. Clara has been to two museums. Last Friday we went to the Dada exhibit at the MOMA, and Sunday we saw the Met's Medieval Art collection at The Cloisters. Throw in some Renaissance, and she's just about ready for her AP Art History exam.

Auntie Sarah comes to visit

As some of you know, Clara's aunt Sarah came to visit us for the first time since Clara was born. Aside from Sarah contracting a nasty flu virus (the same one that put Greg and me under Memorial Day weekend), we had a great time. Sarah got to see Clara experience a number of firsts: her first trip to Uwajimaya (the giant Asian supermarket), her first visit to the Fremont Troll, and her first dining experience at our favorite burger joint Red Mill. (Greg and Sarah had verde veggie burgers, I had the red onion veggie burger, and Clara had the breastmilk. Delish!) Come back again soon, Sarah, for more fun adventures with us. Next time, no viruses!

In other travel-related news, Friday we embark on our first cross-country adventure with Clara: The Bamford-Armitage gang takes Manhattan! As the Donald would say, "It'll be hu-u-u-ge." We will do our best to update you on our NYC experience, but if the blog is lacking in posts, know that we are probably out shopping, walking through Central Park, eating bagels, riding the subway, grabbing slices with friends, or just lollygagging around the city. To our Seattle friends: we will miss you. To our New York friends: See you soon!

Baby Round-up

Clara and I went to the reunion of our Great Starts childbirth/parenting prep class, with babies in attendance and moms looking considerably smaller. Clara was the second-largest baby of the group, narrowly beat out by an 11.5 lb. boy named Kjellar. He is the baby at about nine o'clock in the circle wearing the brown shirt with the blue lion on it. Our teacher Kim is betting dollars to doughnuts that the two of them get married and have a passel of super-sized babies.
